The two great periods of beer in Alsace. By Hervé MARZIOU, Beerologist
During a guided tasting of two Alsatian beers, Hervé Marziou invites you to explore the contemporary history of beer and brewing in Alsace, France’s leading beer-producing region.
Starting from the city brewpubs, you’ll discover the remarkable industrial saga of the 19th century that shaped Alsace, from Schiltigheim to Colmar, from Cronenbourg to Saverne, via Hochfelden and Lutterbach. This brewing world, marked by mergers and acquisitions, led by the early 2000s to the dominance of just a few large, even giant, breweries.
But in 1999, with the creation of Alsace’s first craft brewery, the Craft Beer movement was born — and has seen spectacular growth ever since. As a result, by 2025, Alsace will be home to nearly 120 breweries, blending tradition and innovation
Conference #2 : saturday 14 june, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Brewers and collectors : a shared passion ? By Hervé MARZIOU, beerologist
During a guided tasting of two beers, Hervé Marziou explores the unique connection between brewers and collectors of brewing memorabilia. While some brewery items were never originally meant to be collected, over time brewers have created remarkable series that are now highly sought after — coasters, labels, cans, enamel signs, glasses, and more.
Is the collector a brand ambassador, a guardian of brewing heritage, or simply a passionate beer lover? Hervé Marziou sheds light on the fascinating dynamics and significance of this special relationship.
